The Dutch Supercar Challenge will become the next championship
to be graced with the CR1 LS7. A deal has now been confirmed which
will see Henk Thuis of Intrax Racing piloting the new car. Aquila
and Henk have worked well together since the launch of the car with
Intrax supplying vital suspension components on the CR1.
"Route 66" Henk is an experienced driver and his been actively
involved within motorsport for years, now 66 years old he will be
driving the first Aquila CR1 LS7 to race in Holland, that
kind of dedication and ambition within motorsport emphasises the
passion in his work and driving, this is exactly why we chose
Intrax for our car! Henk and Aquila General manager Dan Suenson
have been one the phone almost non-stop in the last few weeks
perfecting the components that are to go on the car, the
specification is once again nothing short of special.
Henk Thuis is a well known person Within the Dutch Supercar
Challenge and his company Intrax Racing has provided many teams in
the DSC with shock absorbers for years, beside that he regularly
likes to get behind the steering wheel of a race car. In the past
few years Thuis was one of the main title contenders in the Super
sport I-division. First at JR Motorsports in the BMW E46 V8 GTR and
then three seasons with the Porsche 997 GT3 developed by
themselves. With this Porsche Thuis won the championship in class,
after many fierce battles with the Méganes of Carworld Motorsport.
In 2010 Thuis did not drive the whole season, He was to sell his
Porsche and some thought then that Thuis would slow down. However
he is BACK with and he means business, because the 'Racing
Grandpa', as Thuis calls himself, Returns to the championship and
in the GT division with prowess of an Aquila CR1.
This won't be the first time the Aquila CR1 has competed in the
DSC, back in 2009 the BMW M60 factory car entered a race at Spa
with Lars Erik Nielsen and Alex Frederichsen and another BMW M60
CR1 one was ran by Brax racing last season.
This deal shows the extent of interest Aquila have received
regarding the GM LS7 engine mounted CR1 and the success of this
engine is nothing short of overwhelming. With CR1 LS7's running in
the UK, Holland, the U.S.A and at home here in Denmark the coming
season is certainly going to be an exciting one!
