Aquila pole at spa...
In the last round of the Britcar championship, the
tournament with some extreme GT cars visited the Dutch Supercar
Challenge for their round at Spa Franconchamps. All the hallmarks
are set when two beautiful championships like the DSC and Britcar
meet and during this round the first Aquila CR1 LS7 to be owned by
a private owner got a chance to show off its prowess, and that it
did!
The yellow flash qualified on pole by 4.5 seconds on damp
track with a small drying line that the talented Bob Berridge
managed to find with a stunning performance. Nigel Mustill the
owner of the car, started the race and after the first pit stop
Berridge took over and at one point was lapping 10 second quicker
than anyone else.

The very experienced Bob Berridge who has won 300 races
and 10 championships and competed at Le,mans in GT, LMP1 and LMP2
in his career, said that the Aquila CR1 "was a
great car, responsive, fast and he really enjoys driving
it."
Two minor problems and a visit to the pits would mean
Berridge would show his speed with even quicker times taking a lap
back previously lost. Berridge was so much quicker through eau
rouge than the other runners and putting on a fine display of car
control . The Wessex team finished in 5th place and are now
preparing for their next Britcar event at Castle Combe ,Nigel
Mustill's home circuit.
Will their be a new attack on the 24 hr at Silverstone where
Berridge will front the driver line up? A lot to live up to after
last years stunning drive from Rob Huff setting a new Lap Record
last October..
Well done to Nigel Mustill, Bob Berridge and all the guys behind
Team Wessex with the positive result and a fantastic show of Aquila
ability!
