Although the company behind the CR1 concept has only existed since 2003, the people have been working closely together for the last decade.
Chief Designer Anders W. Bonde and Chief Constructor Dan Suenson, with their individual organizations, decided to team up to construct a revolutionary Formel Ford to set new standards in this ‘Einsteiger’ series. And they did. The Aquila FD1 won its first international races with Danish Formel Ford champion 2007, Christian L. Markussen, at the wheel.
You can read a lot more about that racer in ”Racecar Engineering” June ’07, under the headline "Probably the most innovative Zetec-engined racecar ever built".The CR1 is yet another revolution in motor sport.
We love motor sport! Watching the cars, listening to them, making them go just that bit faster than the others. Being part of the right team. Being where speed is at its maximum. Feeling the G-force pressing us into the seat, the scream of the engine. And last – but not least – seeing the checkered flag when we reach the finish line.
It’s just like that.
Spending time with family and friends, playing golf, sailing, partici-pating in public life, taking long weekend breaks, spending time at the cottage, riding the motor bike and, of course, being a career-oriented, successful, hardworking professional. The opportunities are numerous, and you have been used to the feeling that everything is possible.
Except for motor sport. Suddenly, you are in the world of a jealous mistress: a full-time occupation, and a massive amount of sponsorship. Either you’re prepared to give it your heart and soul and your very last penny or, the truth is, you’re simply not man enough for the sport. But listen up. It just doesn’t have to be like that anymore.
Our inspiration was to create a top-level, highly attractive rac-ing series for ‘fathers and sons’ – making it possible for them to spendt a few weekends together throughout the year. Doing what they like the most – racing – but without actually having to be mechanical engineers or millionaires.
Or both. And look what happened: it turns out that we have created a whole new motor sport concept for the modern man of planet Earth, 21st century. A modular concept where the busy, successful modern business man will have a turn-key race solution, at a reasonable cost. An opportunity to get out with family, friends, business relations, and be an active part of the racing community. All, under super-attractive conditions – and without having to eliminate anything else in their lives.
